Biography

Neeltje Maria van Steenbergen was born on April 6, 1840 in Herwijnen (Lingewaal). She was the daughter of Kornelis van Steenbergen and Hermina de Bruijn.[1]

In the 1860 census Neeltje (age 20) was in Lake Prairie Township, Marion, Iowa, United States.[2]

Neeltje married G. Verploeg on 26 December 1864 in Marion, Iowa, United States.[3][4]

In the 1870 census Neeltje (age 29) was in Lake Prairie Township, Marion, Iowa, United States.[5]

In the 1880 census Nellie (age 40) was the wife of Gafe Ver Plough in Lake Prairie Township, Marion, Iowa, United States.[6]

In the 1895 census Nellie (age 54) was in Mahaska, Iowa, United States.[7]

In the 1900 census Nellie (age 60) was in Scott Township, Mahaska, Iowa, United States.[8]

Neeltje was buried in Porter Grove Cemetery, Harvey, Marion County, Iowa, United States.[9]
